Q: I have a tyre repair shop. I want to get this RMI Accreditation for it. Its like a motoring board and carries weight in the vehicle repair and service industry.
One of the requirements in order to be accredited is that I must have a 3rd party insurance to the value of 500k. So if something happens to the customer's vehicle in the shop or a customer's vehicle gets stolen or damaged, etc. the insurance will cover the vehicle.
So the insurance won’t be for my business, it will only be 3rd party to cover the customers vehicles, etc.
Is it permissible to take out that insurance to get the accreditation or must I stay away from it completely.
A: If it is a government regulation, and in order to be registered you will need to take out this insurance, then you will be excused in taking it out. However, we advise you to make taubah, and in the case of the insurance paying the third party on your behalf, you do not take more than the amount you had paid to them.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: Its not a government regulation and not compulsory to have the RMI accreditation. Its a body in the motor industry that people look for that the workshop is RMI approved only. Like the workshop is a certain standard so people will send their cars. Should i go ahead or hold back?
A: If it is not a government regulation, then one should refrain.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
