Prospective couple meeting and not delaying the marriage

Q:

1.When can a proposal be rejected in Islam?

2.Is it correct to ask for a prospective spouse who has a sunnah beard and sunnah dressing? I don't like a modern lifestyle because it's not what I am accustomed to nor brought up with.

3. How many times can a prospective couple meet under supervision if they need to discuss aspects of nikaah?

4. After the proposal a bride accepts, within how many days does one have to make nikaah... since it is emphasized in Hadith to hasten for nikkah to take place.

A:

1. If the girl is not interested or her parents feel that it is not the appropriate person they may ask her to reject the proposal.

2. Yes.

3. Not even once. Discussing these types of matters before marriage is not an Islamic way. It is a kuffaar style and it must be abandoned. The right thing is that if there are some concerns then the concerns should be discussed between the parents.

4. The hadeeth says that when the match has been found then don't delay the marriage. Just as when the namaaz time has entered and the azaan has been called, then there is no need to delay the namaaz.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
