Q: Can a husband restrict his wife on using the phone? What are the valid reasons? What if the wife bought her own phone?
A: If the wife is misusing the phone by looking at impermissible content, or her involvement with the phone is encroaching on the rights of the husband, or it is causing her to neglect her duties towards her children, then the husband has the right to restrict her. However, the husband should adopt an approach of love and affection when correcting his wife and guiding her towards deen.
Generally, when the husband leads by example by living an upright and righteous life, adhering to the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) in all facets of his life, then the outcome will be that his wife and children will naturally be inclined towards adopting the right path.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
