Q: When traveling, how do I calculate safr distance? I am leaving from my house in Johannesburg to another place. From my house to the destination is 80km. But from the outskirts of my city to the outskirts of the place is 65km.
Do we work with the full distance or from the outskirts to the outskirts of the city?
A: You will calculate the distance from the boundary of your town to the boundary of the town you are traveling to. If the distance equals 78km or more, you will be regarded as a musaafir.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
