Q: Can a parent force his child to memorize the Quraan?
A: The responsibility of a haafiz is a great responsibility and neglecting this responsibility is extremely serious. It is imperative for the parents to encourage the child according to the child's capability and potential.
If the child does not want to do hifz and finds it difficult, then the parents should not force him, but they should encourage him to learn the common surahs of the Quraan Majeed which he will be able to recite in his salaah. Apart from this, they should continue to advise him and encourage him to recite the Quraan Majeed daily.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
