Traveling for umrah without a mahram

Q: Can I (daughter) travel with my mother and do umrah with a guide male. As I do have a mahram brother to take with us but couldn’t take him along with us due to financial expenses.

Please advise if it is fine for a mother and daughter to go for umrah keeping a mahram at home?

A: It is not permissible for a woman to travel the distance of 78km or more without a mahram. If she does so, she will be sinful in the sight of Allah Ta'ala. Hence, it is not permissible for you and your mother to travel for umrah without a mahram accompanying you.

Keeping a non mahram guide is not permissible and extremely shameful. Apart from this, there is fear of you both falling into fitnah while travelling with him and being in his company.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
