Facing one's chest or back towards the Ka'bah Shareef during tawaaf

Q: During one of the rounds of tawaaf if a persons shoulder moves away from the direction of the Kabah Shareef, is that round of tawaaf valid?

A: It is not permissible to face the chest or back towards the Ka’bah Shareef during tawaaf. Intentionally facing the chest or back towards the Ka’bah Shareef during tawaaf will cause one to be sinful.

The only time one will face his chest towards the Ka’bah Shareef while making tawaaf is at the time of istilaam.

If one performed the tawaaf in such a condition that his chest or back faced the Ka’bah Shareef, then he will have to repeat the amount of the tawaaf wherein his back or chest faced the Ka’bah Shareef.

However, due to large crowds and pushing, if one’s chest or back unintentionally faced the Ka’bah Shareef, then since this was unintentional and unavoidable, then insha-Allah one will not be sinful and the tawaaf will be valid.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
