Q: I came across the question regarding death and taqdeer. I am curious as to what is the situation when a person commits suicide. Would that person have passed away at that time either way?
A: Everything is decreed, whether death, life, sickness, or health. But we have been commanded to take the right care of ourselves, and not to take the situation in our own hands. Rather, we will do things in a way Allah Ta`ala has guided us. Hence, if a person fails to conform to divine guidance then he will be sinful. Just as we are commanded to look after property and wealth. And if you destroy or burn down someone's property it will be burned, and you will be sinful for violating divine command.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
