Q: A girls father in law wants to shake her hand when they go to visit. It's a habit of his to shake his nieces hands and hug them.
On Eid he shook her hand and kissed it. The mother in law said he's doing like how Dada used to do for the children.
Is this allowed ?
A: On account of the abundant fitnah prevalent everywhere and to avoid suspicion being created in the hearts of people, we advise that this be avoided. Apart from this, if while the father in law shakes hands with the daughter in law or kisses her hand, if lust is perceived in the heart of any one of the two, the nikaah of his son with the daughter in law will break. Therefore caution should be exercised in this regard.
