Q: I like to ask you about fidyah.
1. If you can't fast in Ramadan because of ill health, do you need to give fidyah for 30 days?
2. Do you need to give fidyah to one person or more than one persons?
3. Can I give fidyah to a charity organisation then they may distribute it?
A: Fidyah will have to be given on behalf of each fast that one misses.
One has the choice of giving the fidyah for each day (or few days) separately or the fidyah for the entire month all at once.
One can give one fidyah or more to one poor Muslim or one can distribute one fidyah between two or more Muslims.
However, the fidyah will only be valid when given after the month of Ramadhaan commences. If one gives the fidyah before the month commences, the fidyah will not be valid.
