Wiping impurity off one's clothes with a wet wipe

Q: My cat just ate impure food and she rubbed her mouth on part of my sleeve. The sleeve then became wet and smelt of her saliva. I used wet-wipes and rubbed over the area until there was no smell and then I dried the area. I continued to pray in the same top. Was this okay in terms of purification?

A: If the cat wiped its mouth on the sleeve immediately after eating the najis food, then that area of the sleeve is napaak. Wiping the sleeve with a wet wipe is insufficient. The area should be washed and then salaah should be performed.

If one did not wash this area and performed salaah, then if the amount of impurity was less than a dirham (i.e. the circumference of the palm), then the salaah will be valid and will not have to be repeated. If it was more than the amount of a dirham, then the salaah was not valid and will have to be repeated.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
