Saying someone is fine even though one did not speak to that person

Q: If my dad asks me how someone is doing, for example if he asks ‘how is your uncle/auntie’ etc., is it permissible for me to say that the person is fine even though I haven't spoken to the person and I don't know how they are?

A: If the last time you met them, spoke to them or enquired about them, you had found that they were well, then it will be permissible for you to say that they are fine. It will be better for you to say that the last time you met them or spoke to them, they were fine.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
