Q: I've heard people mention that if a person does not pay a single rupee of his debt in this world, he will have to give 70 accepted salaah in the aakhirah to his creditor for that rupee.
Is this authentic and found in the Hadith?
What if the creditor is a non Muslim?
A: It is correct that a person who has outstanding debts or injustices against people will have to give his good deeds in lieu of his outstanding debts and injustices. This is established in the mubaarak Ahaadith.
However, we have not come across any hadith that mentions seventy accepted salaah will have to be given as compensation for a single rupee or any specific amount of wealth.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
