Person with a physical inability making masah over his feet in wudhu

Q: If a person is physically unable to lift his feet to wash them in the basin, is it permissible for him to perform masah (wiping) over the feet instead of washing?

In such a case, if Ṣalāh is performed after doing masah instead of washing the feet, does the Ṣalāh need to be repeated?

A: Masah will not suffice. If Masah was made and Salaah was performed, then the Salaah will have to be repeated. He should put water in a bucket and then place both his feet in the water.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: Does he need to use two separate buckets, due to the issue of māʾ mustaʿmal (used water) — meaning that once one foot is placed in the bucket, the water becomes used and may not be valid for washing the second foot?

A: If the bucket does not have a lot of water in it, then both feet should be put together in the bucket, so that the water in the bucket does not become musta'mal (used water) after placing the first foot in it. If the bucket has a lot of water in it, then each foot can be put separately in the bucket.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
