Q: I've been asking Allah to make me friends with a non mahram. Its been a lot of time now I see no signs of my dua getting accepted. I am really confused if this is prohibited thats why its not getting accepted or somewhere I found we can be friends with a non mahram with boundaries so if its permissible then why is Allah not accepting it. I've looked up everywhere and I still remain in an utter state of confusion. I cry for this dua every prayer, every rain, every azaan yet its not being accepted. I really don't know if I should wait or give up. If this is right or wrong. Please help me.
A: It is not permissible for a person to be in contact with a non-mahram. Hence, becoming close to a non-mahram and taking him as one's friend is not permissible.
These feelings which you have in your heart for the non mahram and the wish to become close to him are lustful desires from the side of shaitaan. Only through nikaah will a non-mahram man and woman become halaal for each other.
Therefore, you should make sincere tawba and beg Allah Ta'ala's forgiveness for entertaining these haraam feelings and thoughts in your heart and make a firm resolve that you will refrain from this in the future.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
