Throwing umbrellas, water bottles, shoes, etc. at the jamaraat

Q: There are people who throw umbrellas, water bottles, shoes, etc. at the jamaraat. Please comment on this practice. Some say "Masha Allah" and praise those who do so.

A: This is against the sunnah and through this, the rami (pelting) will not be valid. 

The sunnah is that one should pelt the jamaraat with 7 pebbles.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
