Women covering their hair in the house

Q: Do the Angels go away when a woman removes her scarf? 

Would it be necessary to cover ones hair when sleeping in order to gain the protection of the Malaaikah?

A: Yes, this is reported in the hadith. 

Yes, it is better for a woman to cover her hair when sleeping.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
