The purpose of the creation of man

Q: I don't understand why did Allah Almighty create us. I don't mean disrespect but why were we created? 

A: In the Qur’aan Majeed, Allah Ta'ala says, "I did not create man and jinn except for My worship" (Surah Dhaariyaat v. 56). As slaves of Allah Ta‘ala, it is a right that we owe Allah Ta‘ala, our Beloved Creator, that we obey Him and lead our lives in accordance to His commands.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
