Wearing the niqaab despite objections from one's family

Q: I am a 17 year old girl and I have a strong inclination and want to wear the niqab. But my father and grandmother said no. If I wear it, a bit of chaos will start in my household and I will be shouted and sworn at. I'm okay with that but I don't know if it's better to wear niqab or keep momentary peace in my family.

A: To fulfil the obligations of Allah Ta`ala, you do not need to acquire the permission of any person, your father or anybody else. Just as in the case of wudhu and namaaz, it is not subject to your parents' or any person's consent. Allah Ta`ala's authority is supreme. When His authority and command is supreme, it is not subject to negotiation or any person's consent. Hence, adopt the niqaab despite the challenges. For you enduring the challenges, your thawaab will multiply. You are reaping immense benefit and reward.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
