Q: We have a pet cat however he’s gone old and constantly urinates all over the house. I understand that cats themselves are considered to be pure animals as pets but I find this constant urination extremely unethical and unhygienic. What is the law regarding the urination of cats?
A: The urine of a cat is najis (napaak). If the urine comes on any clothing, carpet etc., the area of the impurity will have to be washed to remove the impurity.
