Wearing a knee guard or ankle guard in the state of ihraam

Q: I have difficulty with my knees while walking long distances.

1. While in the state of ihraam, will it permissible for me to wear a knee guard?

2. In the state of ihraam, can I wear an ankle guard?

A:

1. Yes, it is permissible.

2. In the state of ihraam, it is compulsory that the upper portion of the foot be exposed (i.e. the area from the cuneiform bone which begins after the metatarsal bone) as well as the area around the ankle. Hence, if this area is covered by the ankle guard, then it will not be permissible for one to wear it.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
