Q: Can we ask for help or assistance directly from the Awliyah, the Prophet or Hazrat Ali, etc. and why does learned people say that Shaikh Abdul Qader said "If you call my name then I will come help you"?
A: No, seeking assistance from the deceased and asking them to help you is not permissible and is regarded as an act of Shirk.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
