Q: Is it better to refrain from hitting a child when they do something wrong?
A: Different situations demand different approaches.
If the child is small, then mistakes are expected. He should not be hit for the mistakes he makes, but rather he should be explained with love and compassion. If he persists or intentionally does something wrong, then he may be disciplined by not giving him some of the things that he likes e.g. depriving him of sweets and chocolates.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
