Muslim women appearing on YouTube quoting Quraan and Hadeeth

Q: Some Muslim women appear on YouTube clips quoting Quraan and Hadeeth. Please comment on this issue.

A: This is not permissible. All forms of photography have been condemned in Shariah. Severe warnings have been sounded in the Mubaarak Ahaadith for the one who has any involvement in this grave sin. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “Undoubtedly, the people subject to the worst forms of punishment on the day of Qiyaamah are those involved in picture-making.” (Saheeh Bukaari 2/880)

Apart from the sin of photography, it is regarded shameless for a woman to expose herself before all and sundry. The Quraan Majeed and Mubaarak Ahaadith have commanded women to observe strict pardah from all non-mahrams. Therefore, appearing on YouTube goes against the Quraan Majeed and Mubaarak Ahaadith. How sad it is to see that they are quoting the Quraan and Ahaadith, but their actions are opposing the commands of the Quraan and Ahaadith.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
