Q:
1. If all of a person's income is haraam, can you accept a gift of dawat from such a person (i.e. you are sure that he has no halaal wealth or income)?
2. Can you work for such a person? The work you are doing for him is of a halaal nature, but he is going to pay you your salary from haraam money.
3. If such a wishes to purchase something from you and you are certain that the money he is paying with haraam money, will it be permissible to sell to him?
4. Will there be any difference in the ruling if the person (whose income is haraam) is a non-Muslim?

A:
1. No, it is not permissible to accept a gift from such a person.
2. You should not take employment under such a person.
3. Make an excuse and do not sell it to him.
4. In some laws, a non-Muslim will be different to a Muslim and in some laws he will be treated equal. Example, if the kaafir acquires wealth through selling wine or swine, then it will be permissible for a Muslim to sell him something and accept his wealth as payment. Similarly, if the kaafir gifts the wealth to a Muslim, it will be permissible for him to accept it.
On the contrary, if a kaafir steals wealth from someone and he wishes to sell it to a Muslim or gift it to him, it will not be permissible for a Muslim to purchase it from him or accept it as a gift from him.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
