Making dua at the end of a gathering or jalsah

Q: At the end of a Madrasah academic year/grade, a gathering (often called a jalsah) is held with nasheeds, bayaans and awards for students. Is there anything in Islam where it states that a dua should be made at this gathering/jalsah?

A: At the completion of any good work making dua is encouraged. Hence, it is permissible to make a dua at this time.

During the dua, one will beg Allah Ta'ala to grant forgiveness for all the shortcomings and mistakes that had taken place during the year.

Similarly, one will make dua for acceptance and also thank Allah Ta'ala for His grace and bounty of granting one the opportunity to learn deen.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
