Q: Is it permissible for women to remain alone in their homes in order to allow their husbands to go out in the path of Allah (jamaat) or on business trips, etc. Please explain the correct Shar'iee ruling?
A: In this time of fitnah and fasaad (corruption), due to the fear of one’s Deen and life, it is not advisable for the husband to leave his wife alone at home and go out in the path of Allah or business trips.
Q: With regard to the question what's the sharee rulling if a man goes out in the path of Allah leaving his wife at home, the answer was given it is not advisable. Please clarrify this for me.
A: In the holy Qur’aan Allah Ta’aala has instructed the husbands to take care of their wives. Allah Ta’aala says:
الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ ﴿النساء: ٣٤﴾
Men are the protectors and caretakers of women.
It is recorded in the Mubaarak Hadith that Hadhrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) instructed Hadhrat Faatimah (Radiallahu Anha) (at the time of her nikaah with Hadhrat Ali (Radiallahu Anhu)) to fulfill the responsibilities within the home and instructed Hadhrat Ali (Radiallahu Anhu) to fulfill the responsibilities out of the home. We understand from the above-mentioned verse of the Qur’aan and Hadith that men are obligated with the responsibility of taking care of their wives and families and fulfilling their needs and requirements (e.g. taking the children to school, purchasing groceries and clothing etc.). In the case where a man leaves his wife alone at home and travels for Jamaat or business trips, the wife will be required to venture out of the home to fulfill the responsibilities of the husband.
