Q: What exactly does it mean when we are advised not to concern ourselves with that which does not concern you? For eg. my husband is going somewhere and I ask him where he is going to?and why? etc. Am I wrong to be asking questions? How do I prevent myself from bothering over useless issues like these?
A: We are commanded in the Hadith to refrain from all those works and actions that do not concern us. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The beauty and perfection of one’s Islam is that one abstains from all things that do not concern him”. ‘Things that do not concern one’ refers to meddling into people’s affairs that does not relate to him or getting involved in vain and baseless actions wherein there is no halaal, worldly benefit nor deeni benefit for him.
