Those people upon whom Hajj is compulsory

Delaying in performing Hajj

Q: A man who possesses the nisaab is not performing Hajj because if he does so, his parents will get hurt as they have not yet performed Hajj/Umrah. Should he perform Hajj or should he delay the Hajj so that his parents are not hurt?

Another person planned to go for Hajj, but his father said that he cannot go unless he pays him a huge amount. The son couldn't pay him the amount and so he didn't perform Hajj, as he thinks that by disobeying his father, he will not enter Jannah. What should he do? Listen to his father or perform Hajj?

Going for hajj while paying off a mortgage

Q: I would like to go for hajj and we have enough money for my husband and I to go but we have a house mortgage that we took 7 years ago ( I understand it is not allowed to take interest based mortgage but I was then advised by a local Mufti Saheb in England that as there are no other options and I had been paying rent for so many years it would be permissible as not for business purpose and purpose is to live in the house). I do not have enough money to pay it off but have enough for hajj. It will take me at least another 5 years to pay the mortgage off. Do we need to postpone hajj and pay off the mortgage first or can we go for hajj first?

Q: My father in law is very ill since the past 6 months. We have a joint family system where my mother in law, sister in law, brother in law, his wife and kids all live together. I, along with my husband want to go for Hajj this year. Is it permissible for us to go? Or should we delay our plans of performing this life time obligation keeping in view the condition of my father in law?

Going for umrah before performing Hajj

Q: If I really save my money I can probably go for hajj within 5 years in shaa Allah, but what if I can't wait that long as I'm really longing to go to Makkah. Can I just go for umrah? I went there a month ago and I am still craving to go there and I can't wait for 5 years to go there? I intend going within the next year or next 2 years, but my parents say that it is a waste to go for another umrah, it is better to go for hajj, but 5 years, my heart cannot wait that long.

Hastening to perform hajj

Q: I am a 31 year old married woman. I want to perform hajj. My husband is not capable at present. I am asking him to arrange money for his hajj expenses only, and I am planning to sell my gold for my hajj expenses. Is it right to rush for the hajj even if we are not capable or should we wait for the time when we have enough. Please advise.
