Cosmetic Surgery

Q: I am a Muslim woman and have a permanently damaged toenail due to trauma. Although it is not causing physical problems, the appearance of the nail causes me significant embarrassment and distress and affects my confidence. 

I am getting married soon and would like to know whether it is permissible to use a cosmetic toenail reconstruction or similar treatment to restore the appearance of the damaged nail. My intention is not simply beautification, but to conceal and correct a defect that resulted from injury and that causes me considerable emotional distress. 

If such a treatment forms a layer over the nail, how would this affect the validity of wudu? Is there any allowance in this situation, or would it need to be removed for wudu?

Q: There are a few individuals that have done FUE (follicular unit extraction). The procedure involves taking a persons own hair and transplanting it to areas of the scalp where hair has thinned.

My understanding is few weeks after the procedure there is also natural growth in these areas and the hair can be cut and will regrow naturally.

Is this procedure using your own hair permissible?

Q: Is it permissible to intentionally get an extra limb amputated? Example: an extra finger or toe.

Q: What is the shariah ruling on the permissiblility and impermissiblility regarding plastic surgery?

Q: Is it permissible for an anaesthetic doctor to work with a plastic surgeon who may do cosmetic surgery i.e a patient is booked for cosmetic surgery and the anaesthetist will be required to put the patient to sleep for the procedure?

Q: I need a fatwa regarding treating a female patient by a male doctor in a surgery.

Actually the procedure is cosmetic surgery for droopy eyelids and the male surgeon said that we will take skin from your inner thighs. So I want to ask about the draping procedure and all the male staff along with female staff with male doctors are present.

Is it allowed to expose your body infront of men in the presence of females?

Q: Is it permissible for me to get under eye fillers for my dark circles? The procedure involves getting hydroponic acid injected into your face to make genetic dark circles look less apparent not necessarily removed but lighter. I look older than I am and it is upsetting as my dark circles are quite apparent. A treatment like this would really help my skin.

Q: My face is unsymmetrical. One side of my face is droopy than the other. I know in Islam it’s forbidden to get injections/surgery without medical reason but would I be allowed to get my cheeks lifted for this reason?

Q: A Mufti has recently released a YouTube video which addresses nose surgeries to correct a very obvious bent/crooked nose. I fall in this category and would like to inquire if it would be permissible for me to correct this feature through surgery, as it is the source of many of my insecurities.
