Q: What is the Islamic viewpoint on earthquakes? What should our attitude be towards the people who have suffered earthquakes? Should we blame the people or should we help them?
There are people who say that we should not help those who have suffered natural disasters because they have committed a sin, that is why they are facing this calamity. Is this a correct opinion?
Celebrating Spring day
Q: I would like some clarity on this matter. With the start of the spring season, we have been overwhelmed with *welcome spring * messages, status updates, adverts, etc.
My child attends an Islamic school, the school had a spring fun day. Children were required to wear colorful clothing, bring a flower, bring a picnic basket.
My query is, whilst I understand it is not Islamic, is it wrong to let our children participate in these activities.
Secondly, is it as innocent as it seems, or is there more background to it?
Celebrating Independence day in India
Q: Can a Muslim staying in India celebrate Independence day of India and carry the national flag? Is it against Islam ?
Punishment for not using items one purchased
Q: Will Allah Ta'ala punish a person if they don't use the material things they have purchased for years and it's just laying around?
Moving to a non-Muslim country to study
Q: I live in a Muslim country. Can I move to Italy which is a non-Muslim country to acquire an mbbs degree and practice medicine? It is neccessary to state that this mbbs degree and practicing medicine is also possible in my Muslim country. I just want to move there due to the extra facilities. So is it permissible to move to Italy knowing that haraam is freely available there?
Punishment for killing someone's horse
Q: What's the punishment for murdering someone's horse? Is it allowed to kill him after making sure for that he did it?
Throwing away date seeds that have come from Madinah Shareef
Q: Is it a sin to throw away date seeds that have come from Madinah Shareef? Or is it better for us to bury the date seeds, but this isn't an obligation?
Keeping a phone knowing that one will use it for haraam
Q: If a person has no need for a phone and knows that if he starts using it, he will fall into haraam (Allah save everyone), then will it be permissible for him to keep a smart phone?
Remaining positive when witnessing the crisis of the Ummah
Q: I am greatly troubled with occurrences worldwide e.g. the situations in China, Palestine, Saudi, Iraq, North Korea, etc. Sometimes, I do read the news. Alhumdulillah I am trying to be consistent in my duas and nawafil for the oppressed worldwide.
Can Mufti Saheb please offer some advice on how to remain positive about these situations as well as what we should be doing to help those in need?
Is it alright to read the news occasionally (avoiding all murat i.e. pictures of animate objects)?
How can we remain safe in these times of fitnah?
