Why should we follow an Imaam?

Q: Why should we follow an Imam such as Abu Hanifa, Ahmed bin Hanbal etc. as following the ways of of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is the best way? If Imams were correct enough then why do they have different way of offering Salaah? In this case one Imam can be correct while other three may be totally wrong in their practice.

Doing nafil ibaadaat individually

Q:

1. Is it permissible for males to gather at a place on one or more occasions e.g. Masjid, Madrassah or other venue for a weekend to recite the Qur'an; the purpose being to make complete recitation of the Qur'an easy for people, who might not otherwise recite the Qur'an. The analogy to be drawn to substantiate this practice is that of congregational Fardh Salah, which is performed in congregation in order to make it easy for us to perform Salah. Similarly, congregational Dhikr is performed in order to make it easy for one to perform Dhikr.

2. If the aforementioned is permissible, is it permissible to have a requirement of the gathering that one may only leave when they have completed recitation of the Qur'an? Being a student of the Deen, please enlighten with the necessary Shar'i proofs/evidence as to whether such gatherings are permissible, bearing in mind the intention and secondly taking in to account the stipulation mentioned in point (2) above.

NB: My concern regarding this issue is that a gathering of this nature begins to be regarded as necessary or obligatory, which if my understanding is correct, would then make such a gathering impermissible.

Kalimas

Q: What are the 4th, 5th and 6th kalimas in Islam? I want to help my kids to memorise them but I also haven't learnt them yet.

1. Can you please give me in writing?

2. What is the importance of memorising them?

Unknowingly uttering words of kufr

Q: I wanted to know what is the consequences of a Muslim who could have unknowingly left the fold of Islam. I uttered a sentence in the gym that said to an extent that there is other gods but I did not mean it in the context that it was said. I was alone in the gym when this happened. As soon as I mumbled those words and realised what I said, I immediately repented because I did not intend to say it, it just came out of my mouth. I'm extremely worried because what I have learned is that Allah doesn't forgive those who leave the fold of Islam. Please advise me because I love Islam and love Allah and the prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam).

Women visiting the dargahs

Q: My family has planned to go to Ajmer sharif dargah. Tomorow is the day when they leave for the dargah, but my mom got her periods before 2 days, now till the day she reaches the dargah she will complete 5 days of her periods, and according to her age she has bleeding only for starting 2-3 days. So is it allowed that she can enter the dargah after performing ghusl at 5th day of her periods?

Christianity and Judaism

Q:

1. As we know, in comparison to all world views and the other Abrahamic religions, we are the Ummatan Wasataa. Jews have strict laws (kosher) but little Ilm, belief and theology whereas Christianity is mainly belief and theology but very little law. According to Islam, did Christianity originally have laws, halaal and haraam and/or is this modern day Christianity wrong and changed in the sense that they claim that all is needed is the belief in Jesus as the lord and saviour?

2. Out of all the faiths and beliefs, including Abrahamic faiths, Judaism is the most closest to Islam. If their theology, belief and creed is most similar to ours (Islam), why is it that they will suffer a more harsh and severe punishment in Jahannum?

Disposing of novels and magazines

Q:

1. How should one dispose of novels, like romance and horror stories, 'Harry Potter' etc.?

2. How should one dispose of magazines like 'National Geographic' that contain many images of animate objects like animals? I am unsure if it is necessary to burn these types of literature, or if tearing and throwing them away is sufficient.
