Selling books authored by Salafis

Q:

1. Is it permitted to sell books authored by Salafis? This is specific regard to books on Hadith and Aqeedah.

2. What is the status of the income earned?

3. Is there a difference in selling to Ulama and non-'Ulama?

4. If a person sells Salafi authored books, does this count as a compromise in Usul/Aqeedah?

A:

1. Many of the contemporary books that are written by the salafis confuse the minds of the unwary masses. Hence, to read a book that will confuse and distract you from the truth is obviously not right.

2. For the future, avoid selling such books and make taubah for what has already transpired. It is best and safe to give the income out in charity.

3. This is bringing confusion to all and sundry. It is only the high level ulama who specialise in the fields of hadeeth etc. will recognise the status of the hadeeth and the correct explanation of the hadeeth.

4. The rule of our deen is that you avoid things of doubt and suspicion.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
