Earning halaal wealth using a laptop that was bought with haraam money

Q: I have a laptop that I bought with haram money. If I earn money online on this in a halal way, will my income be halal?

A: If you earn wealth in a halaal way through the laptop, your earnings will be halaal. However, you should make taubah for earning the money in a haraam way. If it was stolen money, it should be returned to the rightful owner. If it was money acquired through riba (interest) from the bank or from an insurance policy (more than the amount you had given them in premiums), etc. then you should give the money to some poor person without the intention of receiving any reward.
