Using Ethanol in medication

Q: Is ethanol which is found in medications, mainly teething gels, cough syrups, etc. permissable to consume. Some of these medication have up to 20% ethanol (alcohol).

A: If it is not made from grapes or dates, then taking it as a form of medication is permissible on condition that it does not cause one to become intoxicated.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
