Haaji Performing Umrah in Zul Qa’dah

Q: I wish to perform umrah in Zul Qa’dah so that I will not need to perform Tawaaf-e-Qudoom. After performing umrah, I will remain in Makkah Mukarramah, and thereafter, I will go directly to Mina on the 7th of Zul Hijjah. Is this permissible?

A: Through performing umrah in Zul Qa’dah, your hajj will become a Tamattu Hajj and you will not have to perform Tawaaf-e-Qudoom. Tawaaf-e-Qudoom is not prescribed for one who performs Tamattu Hajj. Rather, Tawaaf-e-Qudoom is prescribed for one who performs Ifraad Hajj or Qiraan Hajj.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
