Asking one's parents and deeni elders for guidance

Q: Do you have to listen to your parents if they tell you how to spend the money that you earn yourself? And do I have to ask them before I spend my money anywhere?

A: If you are the owner of the money, then you do not need their permission before spending it. However, you should understand that Shariah teaches one to consult with one's parents and deeni elders (Ulama) before embarking on any important deeni or worldly decision in one's life. Therefore, if you are not clear in regard to spending the wealth in any avenue, then you should consult with your parents and deeni elders before taking a decision.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
