Q: My daughter works in a health company. Few days back one of her colleagues asked for 1000 dirhams from each person to give daman company and in return they will get 2500 all together. So she also gave without thinking how this works. Later when asked, we came to know that it’s a reimbursement of a fake bill of Ayurvedic treatment which is included in her insurance card but she didn’t actually do any such treatment. Now it’s time to get the given 1000 dhs plus extra 1500 dhs (reimbursement).
Is it permitted in Islam to use that money? What do I do?

A: This is pure interest (riba). Interest is declared haraam in Islam. Grave warnings have been sounded in the mubaarak Ahaadith for all those who get involved in the grave sin of interest.
She should sincerely repent to Allah Ta'ala and make a firm promise never to repeat this sin in the future. She should not accept the extra 1500 dirhams as this amount is interest.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
