Performing fajr Salaah at home if one fears missing the Salaah

Q: For whatever reason which Allah (Ta'ala) knows best I woke up for fajr salaah a bit later than usuall i.e. within permissible time but not enough to make it to the masjid as I felt I could miss the Jamaah and fall within an impermissible tome. I commenced with salaah and performed a short but not hesty salaah with Jamaah at home. I had completed salaah and tasbih* and dua by 04:35am- 20/12/2015-durban. Latest Jamaat commencment time in locality is at 04:25 (Masjid is Al-Hilal)- did my salaah fall within the permissible time and was my decision to perform salaah at home with jamaat at home valid on grounds that I could have missed salaah and permissible time completely had I driven to the masjid. Note that we follow the Shafi'i Madhab so the duration of salaah included dua e qunoot which was incumbent on me as the imam leading salaah.

Nifaas

Q: Beheshti zewar does not mention regarding the case where a lady in nifaas experiences a situation as follows: (similar to haiz masla) -

A lady has a habit of 30 days nifaas (last childbirth)

- After eg 20 days the bleeding stops. She has a bath and begins performing salaah.

1) Is this correct?

- after 36 days she starts bleeding again. She stops her salaah again.

2. would this be haiz or nifaas bleeding?

- thereafter the bleeding stops only on the 42nd day.

In the situation where this is nifaas bleeding, but has now gone over 40 days, so this now would be Istihadha and she would look at her habit of 30 days, but she had stopped reading salah when she bled again on the 36th, thinking it might still be nifaas.

2) Is it correct to say that she will only have to make Qadha from the 36th to the 40th?

Mother not being pleased with the girl one wishes to marry

Q: My mum is refusing to marry me to a woman because she didn't find her pretty and she didn't like the girl's family. She says that they are dangerous and that the girl is not good (not respectful). But I know from mutual friends that the girl is righteous and she does her best to follow Islam, even if she doesn't wear Hijab. My mother had heard from a lot of families here that the girl's family is quite special and she doesn't like that. So she is arguing with me to not marry this girl. What should I do? I know from personal sources that the girl's family won't give her hand to me if I don't come with my whole family. Please tell me what should I do?

Sajdah counter

Q: We have developed a new product which is placed in front of the prayer mat that records the number of Sajdas and Rakaats performed by the worshipper on a small screen. It has no video and no music. Using this product the worshipper is not confused or distracted regarding Sajdas performed. With this product a person can concrete and focus on praying which is very important. Please advise whether it is permissible to use this product to remember?

Breaking one's bay'at

Q: I took bayah a number of years ago to a sufi Sheikh in the Shadhili tariqa. I have recently been besieged with doubts about the tariqa. For example, I am not comfortable with the hadra which is a big part of the tariqa. I also frequently people saying bayah is haram (I know this is a minority option). Sometimes I think it is best to leave the tariqa to avoid doubtful matters. Then I worry that is is haram to break a bayah as the bayah might be considered a vow which cannot be broken. I then get very stressed because both options cause me doubt. I therefore have two questions; Is it permissible to break the bayah of a tariqa? Is it permissible to change tariqas?

The Khawaarij

Q: Can you please inform me what group exactly is the "khawaarij" and who are they? What are their characteristics? Do they still exist today? What is the definition of khawaarij? And I heard many people saying that the group Isil falls under the khawaarij. Is this true?
