Working in hotels

Q: I live in India. I am a hotelier completed years diploma in 2001. Since then have been working in hotels. Alhumdulilah I have been careful not to work in any hotel which has a bar. At 2008 I gave up working at hotels and at present I teach in a culinary institute teaching front office / house keeping / environment. At the same time I also got the opportunity to be  consultant for upcoming projects (hotels/resorts). As a policy I have
Been choosy not to be involved in any hotel or resort having bar. At present I am a consultant for a resort owned by a Muslim in kerala/india, it
Does not have a bar at the same time clients very often bring their own liquor and they consume. As well group travellers who come for corporate
Meetings they too set up bar counters and consume liquor as a group. The Resort employees end up serving them and helping them to set up bar counter. The resort does not charge anything for setting up the bar or lending the Staff members. In some rare cases the clients send resort employees to fetch liquor from outside. Again the resort does not charge the client. My role normaly is to spend four full day time in the resort morning 10 a.M. To 05 A.M. and four evenings from for average of 3 hours. I streamline the operations of the resort and recruit employees and train them. I use this money from the resort to pay back the loan taken from a friend for my sisters marriage. Can you advice whether I should do it or stop as per Shar'ia?

Being concerned about one's children’s progress in the Hifz class

Q: I am a concerned parents whose twin boys are doing hifz. The moulana is quite strict on them and thats not a problem for me but both of them are so scared if he has to ask them anything they both just stare at him and keep quiet. The Moulana is particular about tajweed and their grounding for tajweed is not good. So for that we are also at fault. They had been going to another ustaad for 3 years and had not done their hifz well. They were playing. So we decided to take them out and this year march they started by a new Moulana. My main concern is that the Moulana sent me a message saying that my boys have been with him for three months and they have shown very little progress. They are quite dedicated because they are up from 4.30 and go to Madressa at 6 and return home at 5.30. They have a break and they are back learning at 7. Please help me to overcome this fear.

Talking to a girl on Facebook

Q: I wanted to know if there's anyway to keeping a relationship halaal. I know that seeing a girl is haraam, touching is haraam. But, what if I talk to a girl on Facebook? Just a simple chat to know her very well! I will not see her, no phone contact too. I'm a student and until I get settled and get married with her, I would like to talk to her on Facebook just for a few minutes. I ain't making any zina, right? When I start earning, I will talk to her parents. My parents do allow for love marriage but in a halaal way. I don't believe in arranged marriages. I don't trust girls of today's generation! I want to go with the halaal way. Please guide me with correct answers.

Reciting the same Surah in two rakaats

Q: During Salah, if one recited a particular Surah after Surah Al Fatiha in the first rak'ah (for example, one recited Surah Al Kauthar), and then in the second rak'ah, after reciting Surah Al Fatiha, one begins to recite Surah Al Kauthar and then realises that he has already recited this Surah in the first rak'ah, and so he immediately starts again by reciting a different Surah (for example, Surah Al Ikhlaas). Does this action require sajdah sahw, since he was reciting a particular Surah, then stopped, and started again by reciting a different Surah?

Working as a research analyst in a stock brokerage firm

Q: I wanted to ask a question about the job of research analyst in a stock brokerage firm or mutual fund. My degree major is finance so I want to know if working as a research analyst for any stock market company is halaal? Basically, the job is to do research on companies, look at their financial statements and analyse their performance and then give a recommendation on whether to buy the stock or sell it. I understand that investing in Shari'ah compliant stocks are allowed but I won't be investing. I'll just be researching and giving opinions. Also, I won't be researching on banks and insurance companies whose business is unlawful. So is this job halaal?
