Teaching in the Musjid

Q: Is it permissible to teach in the masjid and take a wage? If it is not permissible, does this apply only within the boundary or outside as well? Does this apply if an ustaadh is given permission by the mutawalis as well?

Conducting a mashwarah regarding worldly affairs in the Musjid

Q: In our Masjid, Mashwarah is undertaken regarding annual get together for food. The objective being how we can connect youngsters to the Masjid and an effort of Deen. In this Mashwarah, we decide where the meal or braai will be held, who will bring what food, how many people will be invited and what time the braai will be? Bearing in mind this objective, is it permissible for us to conduct this particular Mashwarah in the Masjid?

Hurmat-e-musaahara and shahwat

Q: Recently I have come across the following situation and I am very distressed. Please could you advice me further. My mother was waking me up for the morning prayer and she touched my hand, without any veil in between, and I had a feeling in my private part. However, this feeling was possibly due to fear of erection happening. Also, I had a feeling in my heart when she touched me. However, as it was straight from waking up, I couldn't think properly and my mind just let it be. In the end, there was no obvious erection that occurred. Does this constitute hurmat musahara. Also, what is the meaning of shahwat for this masala. I have read on two respected websites different definitions. One says the occurrence of an erection, whilst the other says an arousing feeling in the private part. Please help me, as this is distressing me a lot, along with the possible implications.

Respecting a pious person

Q:

1. We have a Shaikh in our area who, when he enters or leaves the Masjid, the Mureeds stand up for him presumably out of respect. Those that are not mureeds feel uncomfortable because they feel obliged to also stand up when Hadhrat walks in. Is this standing up when Hadhrat comes in and, in particular, when he leaves, substantiated in Shariah?

2. A mureed of this Shaykh mentioned that Hadhrat knows what we are talking about because he is divinely informed. Is this a valid statement?

3. A lay person accidentally sat in Hadhrat's chair. He was told to get off it by a mureed because it is Hadhrat's chair. Was it correct of the mureed to
do this?

Purdah in Ihraam

Q: My mother requests a fatwa to show some women regarding the purdah in ihram, explaining:

1. The cloth should not touch the face

2. Purdah has to be observed from ghayr mahrams.

There is a misconception amongst some women who, throughout the year observe purda, اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّه, but due to a certain aalim's wife informing them that purdah is not necessary in ihraam, they discard it during umrah. She also would like to find out from Hazrat that:

3. Is wearing a normal purdah intentionally a major sin?

4. Would this also be the case if out of circumstances, since due to her eyesight, she cannot see with the cap purdah clearly?

5. What would be the penalty if the cap purdah unintentionally touches the face?
