Mother being abusive to her children

Q: Is it permissable to leave the home of your mother unmarried? I have a 2 year old daughter and I am a single mother. I live with my mother, brothers (1 of which is disabled) and a daughter. My mother has been emotionally abusive towards myself and siblings most of our lives. She has the behaviour of a narcotic and lives her life believing that bad things are sent to her from people doing dirty work. She even blames myself, siblings and even her own family of sending things to her. We've tried speaking to her but she takes offence of anyone offering her advice. I would like to know is it wrong to leave her home as a Muslim unmarried woman in order to protect my daughter from having to endure the same abuse and bad duahs put upon her? And also to protect myself and ensure a happier life for my mother as well as myself? May Allah protect us from the bad duahs, and guide us to make the right choices and May Allah guide and protect my mother too, and grant her ease, comfort contentment and happiness.

Marital problems

Q: I am married and have kids. Through out my marriage I had a lot of problems. I stayed because of my kids. The issues were mainly my husband going out with bad company, staying out late, people seeing him at clubs, or people saying he's on drugs. I have now found out that he is taking drugs. He refuses to admit it. Says he isn't. He's not working at the moment, he is trying everywhere for a job. What must I do? I can't afford kids school. I'm not thinking straight. I only cry and feel helpless. I want to leave. What does Mufti advise?

Dogs barking at night

Q: I just wanted to ask you that there are many street dogs near my house and they bark and cry a lot in the night. Is it dangerous or is it bad if dogs cry? If dogs cry in the night does it mean that someone is going to die? Please suggest me something because I am fed up and get scared in the night.

Self study

Q: In the present times we find a lot of people over enthusiastic in matters of religion which of course is not wrong. However they begin to believe that having learnt word to word translation of the Quran and having read the literal translation of some Hadiths they have  understood the real true meanings of the sacred texts. So much so they start indulging in debates and arguments in religious matters and begin to believe, based on their self acquired knowledge, that only they are in the right path and everyone else is wrong.

My question is:

1. Is self acquired knowledge through reading books alone the correct method?

2. Can One really understand the real meanings of ayats of Quran and the meanings of Hadiths by just reading the English translations?

3. What is the correct method of acquiring religious knowledge.

I have heard a saying "Books teach Words. Men train Men".

Having a boy friend

Q: I'm in a relationship with my boyfriend. Today it came to my knowledge that black magic is being done on me. My parents are now thinking
to consult a mufti to help get rid of this magic. I just wanted to ask that if they consult a mufti so can he get to know about my relationship?

Abandoning the ways of the Kuffaar

Q: My question is, how should we treat the act of sinning, specifically homosexuality amongst the non-believers. How are the non-believers suppose to be treated in an Islamic country, and what do we do if they are committing Zina and Homosexuality in a Muslim and Non-Muslim country? I believe Allah wants us to be merciful Alhumdulilah, but how are we suppose to perceive these acts done by non-believers? Do non-believers get the same punishment as a Muslim would if they practise Zina and Homosexuality in a Muslim country, and what if they do this in a non Muslim country like America? how should we go by this, since I live in a non-Muslim country, and I am a convert Alhumdulillah.

Making istikhara to see if one married the wrong person

Q: Can I read istikhara namaaz to see if I married the wrong person? I did read istikhara before I got married over a year ago, but I am beginning to think that my excitement may have affected it and I was too young at the time (19). Our fights are mentally and physically unhealthy for the both of us. How does a women ask for a divorce if the man doesn't want to give it?
