Insurance and Medical aid

Q: Kindly tell me if insurance is permissble in Islaam.

Q: In South Africa where government hospitals do not treat patients and private hospital fees are unaffordable, is it permissible to take out a medical aid/hospital plan for health reasons? The medical aid/hospital plan offers the following:

1. Unlimited private hospital cover.

2. Full specialist cover in hospital.

3. Monthly chronic medication.

2) Is it be permissible to take monetary compensation in places where the medical aid/hospital plan is not accepted?

Q: Is takaaful in South Africa permissible?

Q: I have taken out life cover to pay for estate duty and capital gains tax in my estate when I pass. I have been advised if the intention is to safeguard my wealth and my family from hardship this is permissible. please advise.

Q: Can I enter into a buy and sell agreement for my share of a business interest and fund this by way of a life policy. My family will not be able to run the business and it needs to be sold. Please advise on the possible solution, my partner will not have the cash to buy my share.

Q: It has come to my attention that my father pays home and car insurance. Is it permissible to make use of a car that insurance is been paid on? e.g. to use the car to go for Salaah, to do necessary shopping etc. Is it permissible to live in a house that insurance is been paid for?

Q: What is the fatwa in detail regarding health insurance?

Q: My family has a normal medical aid policy for me and other family members. Chronic medication is claimed. The amount that is paid to the medical aid each month is far more than the value of the medication. Is it permissible for me to take the medication? Is the medication haraam?

Q: Old Mutual life insurance investment funds.

1. If the family gets paid out from such an investment, will it be permissible for them to use that money?

2. If not, can it be given to a family member legible for zakaat or to pay Sars, fines etc.

Q: I am a mother of a 1 year old child. I want to do "educational insurance policy" for my son. Is subject policy allowed in Islam?
