Q: We've been affected by sihr and bad eyes for years and its been just over 5 weeks that I am reciting Surah Baqarah weekly in our house... The house is huge so I recite sometimes from the rooms and sometimes central.

What I've noticed is strange.. Cupboards are just starting to break, I feel dizzy and sick with terrible aches. My husband cannot stay alone, he feels jinn presence. I always hear these cupboards shut in almost every bedroom every night and I take it these jinns are there whilst we are sleeping.

We've tried everything from a learned aalim treatments; spraying water to playing the adhaan recorder. What else can I do and why is this still happening? Please advise further.

Q: My father constructed a comfortable house for us. However, from the time we started living in the house, my complete family, including my parents, my siblings and I, are not happy at all. We do not know what to do and why our hearts are not at peace in this house. Kindly suggest some solution because we are extremely tense.

Q: If a person wants to buy a statue of a duck for her backyard area, is this haraam or not good? 

Q: I want to purchase some paints, but they contain glue made from animal hide. I’m not sure what animal and I also do not know whether they were slaughtered in the halaal manner. Will the paints be najis and impermissible to use?

1. I want to ask if it is sunnah to live in your own home, bought by oneself. Does this bring more barkah in the home? Should one prioritize this as an ultimate goal?

2. We have been married for 2 decades and faced a lot of financial challenges for various environmental factors, not our own doing. Alhumdullilah. By blessings of Allahs generosity and divine miracle we have saved a small amount sufficient to buy a small investment property to put out for rent. Because we have 3 children, we need much bigger space and more funds to buy a property to accommodate our own actual family.

If there is an option to rent for one's own family living in a place with facilities for children such as shared pool, basketball etc., and make a small commercial investment elsewhere from where we can get rental fees to support our living arrangement is this a better decision?
