Q: I heard someone say that in Islam, it’s permissible to bet on yourself in a foot race against another person and whoever loses must pay the other the staked amount. This doesn’t sound right. Please advise.
Q: If someone betted online and through this, he earned more money then what he put in. Now that he knows that betting is haraam, can he take back his capital amount and give the rest in sadaqah or does he have to give the entire amount in sadaqah?
Q: Is it permissible in Islam to participate in a campaign where I send $0.001 (a very small amount) to someone, and in return I receive a random reward that could be anywhere from a small amount up to $80?
The reward is uncertain and based on luck. However, the money I send is never lost — I always receive a reward that is greater than the amount I sent. So I never lose my money, I only receive more. Is this considered gambling (maisir) or is it halal?”
Q: Is it permissible to have a two way bet with a friend where no money is involved.
For example, if you lose you wear an outfit of the winners choosing or change your wallpaper that doesn't involve haraam to a wallpaper of their choosing etc.
Q: A new trend which we are seeing at the moment is the trend of padel tournaments. Teams pay an admission fee to participate in the tournament, and the winning team receives a prize e.g. plane tickets or a cash amount.
Are these tournaments permissible?
Q: We play indoor net cricket, which has the per hour payment. We usually play on "lose to pay" basis, that the losing team will pay 100% of the payment of the indoor net. Is it haram or permissible?
Secondly, what if we split it on 75% and 25% from losing team and winning team respectively. Is it permissible or not?
Q: Is it acceptable to engage in sports betting?

If the prediction is correct, the better's money can potentially be doubled or tripled. In essence, sports betting revolves around forecasting sports results and staking money on those predictions.
Q: There is a loyalty club business where you pay for a yearly membership and get discounts on a variety of stores. The company also gives you free entries into bi monthly prize draws to win a car, etc.
Since we are not paying money for the entries but are paying for the membership, will it be considered halaal if we win a prize?
Q: Is it permissible to play the lotto in order to use the prize money as a loan to start a business? Once a profit is made, money equalling the lotto amount will be given away in charity.
Q: My question is about gambling. In my country, we have something called Big Sweep.
How to play:
1. Buy a ticket at $3 each.
2. Draws on every first Wednesday of each month at 6pm.
Results:
If your ticket number matches any of the 133 winning seven-digit numbers drawn, you win a prize of at least $1,000 and up to $2.3 million. If the last two digits of your ticket number match any of the nine winning two-digit numbers drawn, you win $6.
Is this considered gambling? Many of my Muslim friends are playing.
