Conditions & Fundamentals of Hajj and Umrah

Remaining in Jeddah for few days before umrah for sightseeing

Q: I’m planning to perform Umrah after my wedding in December, and I’m considering two scenarios:

**Scenario 1:** I take a flight from Pakistan to Jeddah, make the intention for Umrah and enter Ihram before crossing Miqat during the journey, and then travel directly from Jeddah to Makkah to perform Umrah on the same day.

**Scenario 2:** I fly from Pakistan to Jeddah but stay there for two days and two nights to explore the city and do some sightseeing. After that, I travel from Jeddah to the Miqat, enter Ihram, make the intention for Umrah, and then proceed to Makkah to perform Umrah.

My main question is whether the second scenario is Islamically permissible.

I want to clarify that *my primary purpose of visiting Saudi Arabia is to perform Umrah.* Staying in Jeddah first would be purely for sightseeing and exploring the city. There is no work-related reason, necessity, or compulsion involved. It would simply be my personal preference.

Since our return flight will be from Madinah, we won't have the opportunity to explore Jeddah on our way back. That's why I'm considering visiting Jeddah before performing Umrah.

Could you please guide me on whether the second option is permissible according to Shariah, or whether we should enter Ihram before crossing Miqat and perform Umrah directly upon arrival?

Wealthy woman not finding a mahram to go with for Hajj

Q: A lady wants to go for hajj. She has her own money to pay for hajj fees, but her husband does not want to go. Wife does not know the reason. Her husband does not go anywhere, never ever take her out anywhere for vacations. What should the wife do?

Wife is 49 years old. Can she go for hajj with a group of ladies. She has no brother and her father died many years ago. She has no child. Is there any way she can go on hajj?

Woman selling her gold to go for Hajj

Q: A women in her near 60's is diabetic, has blood pressure issues and foot corn such that if she walks much she get's pain in her legs.

Now when she was married many years back, she was gifted some gold such that if that is sold she can pay for hajj. Initially she didn't do so. Now, she can only do hajj by selling the gold. She doesn't earn otherwise. Would hajj be fard on her?

Woman in haidh entering into ihraam and delaying the umrah

Q: I'm currently in Madinah and my period started last night (Friday). My period lasts for 10 ten days. That has always been my habit. We leave for Makkah on Sunday insha-Allah. Do I enter into my ihraam and perform my umrah when we reach Makkah and pay my dum, or do I not enter ihraam on Sunday and delay my umrah till before we leave for home?

Returning home for a janaazah after donning one's ihraam

Q: What is the ruling for the following scenarios?

1. A man puts on his Ihrām and goes into Makkah. When he checks into his hotel, he receives news of the passing away of a family member, hence he flies back, in Ihrām, for the Janazah, thereafter returning and commencing his Umrah. Is there anything due upon him?

2. A couple are going for Hajj. As they don the Ihrām and are about to enter Makkah, the wife's menstruation commences, which will end on the 7th of Dhul-Hijjah, hence after the completion of the husband's Umrah, they decide to spend the remaining time in Madinah. Is there anything due upon the wife?

Postponing hajj due to the fitnahs in the haramain

Q: There is a lot of fitnah happening in Saudi Arabia; the government is allowing a lot of haraam there. The Hajj is being used by the government to extort money from Muslims. Muslims are committing a lot of haraam near the Kaaba; there are reports of men touching women's buttocks during the circumambulation of the Kaaba. Many are taking photos inside the Hajj to the point where it's almost impossible to avoid being recorded.

Would it be permissible to postpone the Fard Hajj until things improve in Saudi Arabia, thus allowing for a purer Hajj without involving haram?

Wearing an adult diaper in ihraam

Q: I am a 21 year old male who consistently suffers from urinary incontinence. I usually place a piece of tissue in my underwear after urinating just incase some urine drops may come out.

I plan on one day going for umrah but I am afraid that my condition may cause difficulties especially if I should need to use the toilet whilst in ihraam. How can I possibly solve this issue as a whole?

I have also read from a previous post that it is permissible to place a bag or wear adult diapers under the ihraam, in such a case does the diaper have to be without any stitching or sewing and how would one secure a bag to ensure it doesn’t fall out?
