Q: I am, as per blood results and my doctor, on the brink of Type 2 diabetes. One of the options to try and reverse this is to use a continuous glucose monitor. What is the position with this in terms of ghusl?
The patch is kept on for 14 days at a time and then changed. Please advise what is the position in terms of ghusl as if we are required to remove this in ghusl then it cannot work as each patch costs almost R1500 per 2 weeks.
Q: I would like to know what is the sharee ruling regarding the urine of a cat. I have heard that according to one view in the Hanafi Mazhab, the urine of a cat is paak and if it comes onto one’s clothing, one does not have to wash the clothing. Is this correct and if correct, is it the preferred view in the Hanafi Mazhab?
Q: We have a pet cat however he’s gone old and constantly urinates all over the house. I understand that cats themselves are considered to be pure animals as pets but I find this constant urination extremely unethical and unhygienic. What is the law regarding the urination of cats?
Q: Will my wudhu be valid if I use earseeds? It involves placing adhesive pellets on the ear pressure points for 3 to 4 days at a time.
Q: What is the ruling of drinking the leftover water of wudhu (fadl wudhu) whilst standing?
In Dars Tirmizi (vol. 1, pg. 259) — taken from Duroos Madaniyya of Moulana Husain Ahmad Madani رحمة الله عليه — it is mentioned that Ibn Abidin (al-Shami) did not regard it as mustahabb, and that the ahadith on this issue cannot be used to establish istiḥbab.
However, in Fatawa Mahmoodiyyah (vol. 8, pg. 123) the words of Ibn Abidin (al-Shami) in Radd al-Muhtar are quoted as proof that drinking fadl wudhu whilst standing or sitting is mustahabb.
My questions are:
1. According to the Hanafi madhhab, is drinking fadl wudhu mustahabb or not?
2. What is the correct position of Ibn Abidin (al-Shami) in this matter?
3. If it is mustahabb, is it specifically recommended to drink it while standing, or is sitting still better?
4. How should the apparent contradiction between Duroos Madaniyya/Dars Tirmizi and Fatawa Mahmoodiyyah be reconciled?
Q: I have a urine leak problem. So after I shower I wipe dry then wash close to the slit so that I can be as pure as possible and then dry that water up. At times the water flows away without leaving a bead of water left over and sometimes it leaves a bead.
Now I fear that if that bead of water moves it will go on a part of impurity on my private part, all the water on my private part in some way or the other is connected to each other due to lines/wrinkles on the skin.
Does it now make the whole private part impure? What would be an easy way in making istinja or even coming out of the shower?
Sometimes in attempt to get the water to flow off immediately I spend 45 mins plus in the bathroom.
