Q: My question is regarding Standard Bank U Courts.
I do have points currently which I am not using as I believe that its haraam.
Can I redeem the points by purchasing items from their stipulated stores and give it away in charity to my non Muslim helper or to an old age home or orphanage. If this is possible, does it have to be to a non Muslim old age home or orphanage?
I also have the intention to cancel the U count
Q: I avoid using credit cards as much as possible. I repent after using ATM or bank services.
I also avoid cash back, discounts and facilities offered to the credit or debit cards holders like using airport lounges, shopping from certain stores with discount. Are my actions correct?
Q: I have the following queries regarding the U Count rewards from Standard Bank. I do earn these points but do not use them as per your previous fataawa that I read on your website.
My questions are as follows:
1. Can I purchase items from the U Count participating retailers e.g. Makro and give these items to my helper who is a non-Muslim or any Muslim person or any Muslim organization e.g. a Muslim orphanage?
2. Can I purchase items for me e.g. R1000.00 using the points and then take R1000 in cash and give it away to any Muslim, non-Muslim or any Muslim organization?
Q: I receive ebucks via FNB when I buy from Takealot, or fill fuel or if I buy from Checkers with my virtual card. Is it permissible to earn these ebucks and to use it to pay bank fees, fill fuel etc.?
Q: Is receiving free services from a bank like: being able to receive my income in my current account and pay with the debit card associated considered riba?
My bank does not have account maintenance fee and offer these services.
Q: Is profit earned by using Islamic banking halaal or haraam?
Q: Here in Saudi Arabia, there is a bank called Al Rajhi that offers a savings account where you can deposit money without earning any interest. They also conduct lucky draws for account holders, and I want to ask if the prize money from these draws is considered halal or haram.
Q: Incentives offered by car dealers to bank employees for referring bank auto loan customers is Halal or Haram. They offer a specific amount from their own profit and not caused any loss to bank or its customer.

My husband has a credit card which he uses to do transactions and alhamdulillah all these transactions are interest free. He uses it for convenience so he doesn't need to carry cash. By using this card he earns ebucks points which have accumulated and will be very valuable in purchasing necessary appliances in the home. Is the purchasing of these items with the ebucks points permissible?
Q: Using the FNB global account/card, is it permissible to use the airport lounge benefit? No charge per month. No minimum balance required.
