Q: I’m a male and suffer from male pattern baldness. As a result I’m wearing a wig to only cover the top part of my head, the rest of my hair is my own.
1. Am I allowed to wear the wig while I perform Umrah?
2. If not, and I continue wearing it do I have to pay dumm?
3. How much is the dumm and what do I need to do?
Q: I wanted some information regarding naming my son Uthmaan after the Sahabah Uthmaan bin Affan (radhiyallahu anhu). We have heard a lot of good about this Sahaabi but wanted Mufti Saheb to share some information regarding him which is authentic as well as if you can send information regarding the meaning of Uthmaan.
I also wanted to know, does the meaning affect the child or if the child is named after someone will that affect the child?
Q: My question is regarding women wearing electronic accessory (smart ring) which has features to track health metrics, such as sleep quality, heart rate monitoring, and more. Is it permissible for women to wear such rings? Are there restrictions on materials?
Q: If a husband says to his wife "you not married to me", does it mean the marriage is over? There was intention in saying this.
Q: What if the husband says 2 times talaq at the same, will this happen? What is according to shariat ? If he gives 1 again will talaq happen?
Q: If a husband has already performed his fardh hajj, is it compulsory upon him to take his wife to perform her hajj if she does not have the means for hajj? If he takes her for hajj, will her fardh hajj be fulfilled?
Q: If a woman has the means to go for her fardh hajj but is not married, can she ask one of her male mahram relatives (e.g. uncle, nephew) to accompany her on the journey?
Q: Is it permissible for the Imaam of the Masjid or any scholar to teach hifdh/madressa in the Masjid & charge fees?
If not, should this be moved outside the Masjid boundary or what would be the best possible solution?
Q: If a person is giving zakaat in kind instead of cash, is the monetary value of the item considered, or is the store price?
Example: Bag of potatoes is worth R50, but he bought it for R100. He has to give R200 in zakaat. Does he give 2 bags, or 4 bags (costing him R400)?
Q: My husband, my mother in law and myself live together. I don't have a full kitchen of my own but I have kitchenette upstairs with the basics - fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave.
In Ramadhan, my husband says we should all 3 have sehri downstairs because his mother shouldn't be eating alone. I responded saying that if he would like he can go downstairs for sehri but I will be having sehri upstairs as I don't see why I should have all meals together all the time.
Islamically am I entitled to have some meals separately. Please advise.
