Ramadhaan & Fasting

Following Saudi Arabia times when fasting

Q: My question is regarding the upcoming Ramadhaan.

I am a young married man of 33 years. I have no disease, Alhamdulillah, no limitations that I can postpone or quit my fast. I have been fasting for many years also. I have lived and experienced some normal 9 to 15 hours fast in Pakistan maximum and then in Dubai for 3 years with the same timings of fast. Now I have moved to Oslo, Norway. This Ramaadan will be my first here In Sha Allah.

As you know, Norway is among the country where sunrise and sunset is very long. This would be almost a 21 hour fast, which I feel is too long and the time for iftaar and sehri is too short, that I cannot make or feel the pleasure of iftaar, sehri and Taraweeh. In Oslo, iftaar will be around 11.30 pm and sehri will be at 2.00 am.

I feel that we must give proper time to iftaar and sehri as the fasting body needs it. I am thinking of fasting according to Saudia or a country nearby with normal time hours of fast. Can a person do this? Is there any Fatwa for this? As I do not know any other doing like this here in Oslo or not... and I am also thinking of offering Isha and Taraweeh at normal hours, which would be normal Asar or other time of Salah time here in Oslo in the Month of Ramadhaan.

Qadha for breaking one's i'tikaaf

Q: A brother made intention to spend the last 10 days of Ramadhaan for i'tikāf. On the second day, due to a person passing away in his family (non-Muslim) his dad wanted him to leave his i'tikāf because he (his dad) had to go to the deceased's home and it would take a few days for him to return. So his dad wanted him to break his i'tikaf to look after his home and animals (pets). The brother had no choice but to break his i'tikaf on the second day.

1. How does he have to do qadhaa of his i'tikaf?

2. He intends to do qadhaa of his i'tikaf this Ramadhaan Insha Allah so will the fast in Ramadhaan suffice for him to keep his i'tikaf or does he have to keep fast outside of Ramadhaan to make up his qadhaa.

3. How many days does he have to do qadhaa for, 1 or 10 days.

Inhaling steam

Q: My query is in regards to fasting. From what I understand, the inhaling of steam breaks ones fast, unless it is mistakenly. Please correct me if I am wrong. My issue is, is that when one is cooking, it is inevitable that steam is inhaled. I'm not going and sniffing the food, but the steam rises up. In this case, Do I need to cover my face and nose whilst cooking? Doing so is very difficult. Also, when opening the freezer, a whole lot of steam comes out when the door is opened. Again, I'm not going and deliberately inhaling it, but it's fairly inevitable that the steam is inhaled. What do I do in these cases? Also, if I wish to spray on deodorant whilst fasting, is covering my face and turning my head in the opposite direction sufficient so that my fast does not break?
